28 April 06: Mixed Messages...

Following on the last release... the choice of quotations does not represent in me the desire for an isolationist foreign policy per se.  I think I am more concerned with motive and who stands to gain from any given exercise.

Prof. Zinn offers one point of view...I do not always agree with his conclusions,

but am really only hoping that more discussion is given to the questions.

Slightly less thoughtful, though with a link to our military activity in the last century, is this short reading.  Again, I don't want answers so much as discussion.  I sense more than a little Chomsky in the work.

In local news, well, sometimes this stuff is just confusing and painful...

CNN offers short review of circumstances over here...

And some words from the locals..

Important Note:  I highly recommend the April 10th issue of the New Yorker.

It has an excellent article on what is happening here.

There does not appear to be any statistical date to support the premise that democratization will help to end terrorism.  If you are that pissed about something, are you really going to wait and hope that you vote counts?

This comes from an article in Foreign Affairs.  If you have the time the entire issue is worth reading.  Probably every issue for that matter.

So far, I think I am less comfortable with this one than the ports,

but have only read two articles....

I often get the felling that we are smart enough to do better, but lack the motivation.

Looks like your children's children's children will be paying for this puppy.

Lord help us if they start trading oil in anything other than dollars.

That last one is an article in itself.
